NEWS ROUNDUP

ACQUISITION: Core Spaces acquires 670 beds. Core Spaces has acquired Villas on 24th, a 670-bed student housing community in Austin’s West Campus. Opening this month, the 199-unit property offers studio to six-bedroom layouts with bed-to-bath parity for University of Texas at Austin students.

DISPOSITION: CBRE arranges sale of 758-bed complex. CBRE has arranged the sale of Clubhouse, a 758-bed complex serving University of Louisville students.

DEVELOPMENT: Sandrock Partners breaks ground on Alabama student housing community. Sandrock Partners has begun consturciton on Hilltop Auburn, a 30-townhome student housing community serving Auburn University. Set to open in Fall 2026, the project offers four- and five-bedroom residences with private baths, modern finishes, and coffee bars on every floor. “Student living should be about more than just a place to sleep—it should be about building connections, making memories, and feeling at home in the community,” said Ross Peterson, managing director of operations at Sandrock Partners.

PEOPLE MOVES: Gilbane Development appoints new VP of Development. Gilbane Development has named Tyler Greene vice president of development, tasking him with driving the company’s entry into Salt Lake City. “Entering Salt Lake City represents a significant milestone in Gilbane Development’s national growth strategy, and we’re thrilled to take that step with Tyler Greene leading the charge,” said Alastair Jenkin, senior vice president of multifamily at Gilbane.
