NEWS ROUNDUP

ACQUISITION: Landmark and Stockbridge acquire 801 beds. Landmark Properties and Stockbridge have acquired an 801-bed cottage and townhome student housing community in College Station, Texas, serving Texas A&M University. The 22-acre, 2016-built property includes 186 residences and was sold in a transaction arranged by CBRE. JD Goering, senior vice president of acquisitions at Landmark Properties, cited historic high occupancy, assumable in-place financing, and a strong amenity package as key drivers of the acquisition, pointing to sustained demand for cottage-style living and continued leasing upside.

DEVELOPMENT: Two new LSU-area project planned by 2027-2028. Two new student housing developments near Louisiana State University—Sterling Tiger Valley and Sterling Southgate—are planned to deliver more than 1,700 beds within walking distance of campus ahead of the 2027 and 2028 academic years.

DEVELOPMENT: Northeastern breaks ground on 1,200+ bed dorm. Northeastern University has broken ground on a 23-story residence hall at 840 Columbus Ave. that will house more than 1,200 students when it delivers in 2028. The project is the second dorm developed through a partnership with the City of Boston and American Campus Communities, a Blackstone portfolio company, following LightView’s 2019 opening.

FINANCING: Walker & Dunlop arranges $43 million refi loan for Georgia asset. Walker & Dunlop arranged a $43 million refinancing loan for a 307-bed student housing community adjacent to Georgia Tech in Midtown Atlanta, with Israel Leiner leading the Walker & Dunlop team on behalf of borrower Dezure Development. Walker & Dunlop Investment Partners provided the interest-only bridge financing. The property opened in fall 2025 and includes 100 fully furnished units with amenities such as study lounges, fitness facilities, a courtyard infinity pool, and a rooftop lounge.
