DEVELOPMENT: Sierra College opens 358-bed student housing at Rocklin campus. Sierra College has opened a 358-bed student housing facility at its Rocklin campus, expanding on-campus housing from 120 to 358 beds, with occupancy beginning in Spring 2026. The project was funded with $80.5 million from the State of California and $27 million from Sierra College.

DEVELOPMENT: UT Austin issues RFP for student-athlete housing via P3. The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) has issued an RFP to select private developer(s) to plan, build, finance and operate a ~6,000-seat multipurpose arena for the four-time National Champion Texas Women’s Volleyball team and an adjacent student-athlete housing facility.

DEVELOPMENT: LV Collective and Harrison Street to deliver 862-bed housing at Virginia Tech. A JV between LV Collective and Harrison Street Asset Management is developing Rambler, a 247-unit, 862-bed student housing community in Blacksburg, VA, within walking distance of Virginia Tech. The project is scheduled to deliver in 2028. Kennedy Wilson is providing construction financing. The development team includes Brinkmann as general contractor, Niles Bolton as architect, Variant Collaborative as interior designer, Ironwood as landscape architect, and DLA Piper as legal counsel.

DEVELOPMENT: UM details long-term housing plan. The University of Miami (UM) confirmed that Gables Village is only the first phase of a broader housing strategy that also includes a new dining hall, possible changes to Eaton, and potential renovations to Whitten Learning Center. UM plans to demolish Mahoney-Pearson and replace it with Gables Village, with construction starting in August 2026 and completion expected by August 2028.
