DEVELOPMENT: Inland-Scion acquire 718-bed asset in Texas. A partnership between Inland and The Scion Group has acquired View on 10th, a 718-bed student housing community near Baylor University in Waco. TSB Capital Advisors consulted for the buyers, while TSB Realty represented the undisclosed seller. Walker & Dunlop originated fixed-rate financing for the portfolio through Freddie Mac.

DEVELOPMENT: Subtext breaks ground on 1,193-bed near Texas A&M. Subtext, alongside equity partner Larson Capital Management and lender QuadReal Property Group, has broken ground on VERVE College Station, a 21-story, 1,193-bed student housing development steps from Texas A&M University. Co-CEO Tim VanMatre said the project reflects Subtext’s resident-first approach, while QuadReal’s Paul Stern highlighted the firm’s commitment to student housing. Scheduled for completion in Summer 2028, VERVE will complement Subtext’s nearby EVER College Station, delivering a combined, lifestyle-driven student living ecosystem in the Texas A&M submarket.

DEVELOPMENT: Landmark-Silverpeak JV acquires site for 825 beds. A JV between Landmark Properties and Silverpeak has acquired a 22.4-acre site near the University of South Carolina campus for The Walk on Shop Road, an 825-bed student housing development. The project will deliver 196 fully furnished townhomes in two- through six-bedroom layouts with bed-to-bath parity. The development team includes Landmark Construction and Niles Bolton Associates, with completion targeted ahead of the 2027–2028 academic year.

DEVELOPMENT: Athens approves Core Spaces student housing deal. The Athens-Clarke County Commission approved a land-swap and community benefits agreement allowing Core Spaces to build a 1,400-bed student housing project by combining two county-owned parking lots at Dougherty and Jackson streets with the Hotel Abacus site. In exchange, Core Spaces will contribute $8 million to the county’s affordable housing trust fund, help fund a new public parking deck on North Avenue, preserve the historic Foundry building for community use, and provide cultural benefits such as subsidized artist space.
