NEWS ROUNDUP

ACQUISITION: PCCP and The Dinerstein Cos. acquires 1,128-bed portfolio. A JV between PCCP and The Dinerstein Cos. has acquired two adjacent student housing communities totaling 1,128 beds near Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The properties, formerly known as 2818 Apartments and Parkway Place, have been combined and rebranded as Sterling College Station. The community comprises 350 garden- and cottage-style units in one-, two-, and four-bedroom layouts.

DEVELOPMENT: CCI breaks ground on 353-bed community. CCI Real Estate has begun construction on 290 Lumpkin, a 353-bed student housing community near the University of Georgia campus in Athens. Developed in partnership with the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, the project will also include ministry space for Baptist Collegiate Ministries. Scheduled for completion in summer 2027, the eight-story development will feature 243 fully furnished studio, one-, and two-bedroom units, a Three Tree Coffee location, and a 356-space parking garage.

DEVELOPMENT: GMH Communities expands proposed 241-unit tower. GMH Communities has revised plans for The Dean, a proposed 14-story student housing development near the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, by adding a 10th property to the project site. The updated proposal includes 241 apartments, 190 parking spaces, and 180 bicycle parking spaces, with a mix of studio through five-bedroom units targeting students, faculty, and young professionals. The approximately $90 million development is planned across Madison Street, Fourth Avenue, and Fifth Avenue, overlooking the university’s marching band practice field. Construction is expected to begin in early 2027, subject to approvals, with completion targeted for mid-2029.

DEVELOPMENT: Developer advances 117-unit student housing project. A developer has secured rezoning approval for TTG 57, a proposed 117-unit student housing community near the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, moving the project closer to construction.
