NEWS ROUNDUP

ACQUISITION: McNair Collegiate advises acquisiton of 796-bed community. McNair Collegiate Partners (MCP) advised The Tailwind Group on the acquisition of The Overlook Norman, a 796-bed student housing community serving the University of Oklahoma. The property is scheduled to undergo a comprehensive renovation beginning in fall 2026, including upgrades to apartment interiors, a complete renovation of the clubhouse, and enhancements to community amenities.

DISPOSITION: CBRE arranges sale of 648-bed asset. CBRE has arranged the sale of The Kristi & Campus Quarters,, a 648-bed student housing portfolio in Corpus Christi, Texas. CBRE’s Jaclyn Fitts, Casey Schaefer, William Vonderfecht, Carson Ford, Brad Peters, and Victoria Langston.

ACQUISITION: Northeastern University acquires 700+ bed residence hall for $169 million. Northeastern University has acquired East Village, a 17-story, 700-plus-bed student housing community in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood, for $169 million. The residence hall was sold by Phoenix Property, which originally developed the property in a joint venture with Lincoln Property and opened it in 2015 as one of Northeastern’s first privately developed student housing projects under a public-private partnership model.

DEVELOPMENT: Subtext and PGIM begin $80 million development. Subtext and PGIM have acquired land in Columbia’s Vista district for a 221-unit student housing development expected to be completed in summer 2028. Simmons Bank is providing financing, while W.M. Jordan is serving as general contractor, ESG as architect and interior designer, Davis & Floyd as civil engineer, and Pierce Engineering as structural engineer.
