DEVELOPMENT: Developers break ground on studenth housing near Florida A&M. Developers have broken ground on a new phase of affordable student housing near Florida A&M University (FAMU). Christopher Daniels, developer and director of Smart Capitol, said the project builds on previous developments in the area, with four homes already completed and two more now under construction.

DEVELOPMENT: BYU to replace married student housing with 240 new apartments. Brigham Young University (BYU) has announced plans to construct 11 new apartment buildings at Wymount Terrace, its on-campus housing community for married students and students with dependent children. The project will replace nine aging buildings that have been in use since 1962 and deliver 240 new two- and three-bedroom apartments. Steve Hafen, BYU’s Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Administration, said the investment will ensure Wymount Terrace continues to provide an affordable and supportive living environment for student families. Todd Fischio, Director of Residence Life at BYU, added that the new development is designed to enhance the student experience by providing energy-efficient, well-maintained housing.

PEOPLE MOVES: Capstone Development Partners expands leadership team. Capstone Development Partners has expanded its leadership team with four strategic appointments aimed at strengthening its public-private partnership (P3), student housing, and campus development platform. Nick Martin has joined as Chief Financial Officer, where he will oversee the company’s financial strategy, reporting, risk management, and corporate governance. Josh Smith has been named Executive Vice President of P3 Development and will co-lead Capstone’s national development efforts, bringing experience delivering more than 15,000 student housing beds nationwide. Sally Langford joins as Vice President of Transitions and University Partnerships, leading project transitions and serving as the primary liaison between university partners and Capstone Management Partners, while Taylor Thompson has been appointed Development Manager, supporting campus housing and mixed-use P3 developments. William Davis, Managing Principal at Capstone Development Partners, said the appointments reflect the firm's continued investment in helping colleges and universities address growing housing, capital, and operational challenges.

PEOPLE MOVES: Asset Living appoints new Chief Operating Officer. Asset Living has appointed Marti Burrows as Chief Operating Officer, where she will oversee operations across the company’s national property management platform and lead strategic alignment, operational performance, and scalable growth. Ryan McGrath, Chief Executive Officer and President of Asset Living, said Burrows brings valuable experience from both the ownership and operations sides of the industry, strengthening the company's ability to support clients and drive long-term growth.
