NEWS ROUNDUP

ACQUISITION: Landmark properties buys 732-bed Texas Tech asset. Landmark Properties has acquired Park East, a 732-bed student housing community serving Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Developed in 2016, the two-building property includes 219 units and a large amenity package. CBRE arranged the sale on behalf of an undisclosed seller, while TSB Capital Advisors arranged acquisition financing for Landmark.

ACQUISITION: Core Spaces acquires 972-bed complex near University of Missouri. Core Spaces has acquired The Collective at Columbia, a 972-bed student housing community near the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, marking the Chicago-based firm’s first investment in the market. The 318-unit property was sold by Preiss and a real estate fund advised by Crow Holdings Capital.

ACQUISITION: GRJ acquires Amherst student housing complex for $41.5M. GRJ acquired Villas on Rensch in Amherst, New York, for $41.5 million. The community includes more than 150 units and 600 beds, serving primarily University at Buffalo students, and was sold by American Campus Communities. GRJ said it plans to continue operating the property as student housing, calling the acquisition part of a broader effort to expand its platform in high-demand university markets.

PEOPLE MOVES: The Michaels Organization names new President. The Michaels Organization announced that Gen Bauer has officially assumed leadership of Michaels Management as part of a planned succession for Kimberlee Schreiber, who has served as president for more than a decade. Matt Sullivan, Michaels’ chief operating officer, said the transition has gone smoothly and praised both executives’ commitment to the company’s mission.
