JOINT VENTURE: Inland Investments and Scion Group form strategic partnership. Inland has announced a new strategic relationship with The Scion Group to operate off-campus, purpose-built student housing properties owned by Inland affiliates. “We could not be more excited to partner with Scion as a best-in-class student housing operator,” said Nati Kiferbaum, Chief Strategy Officer at Inland Investments. “Providing investors with access to scale and efficiencies within the sector is a key strategic objective for us.” “This partnership furthers Scion’s success in executing our business plan with leading institutional investors,” added Clayton Merritt, SVP of Investments at The Scion Group.

DEVELOPMENT: Gilbane opens leasing for 484-bed property. Gilbane Development has opened a leasing office for Pique, a 484-bed student housing community under construction just four blocks from UC Berkeley. The project is slated for Summer 2026 occupancy. “Pique is the pinnacle of student housing in Berkeley,” said Christian Cerria, Development Director. Katy Moore, Director of Leasing, added it will reflect "the lifestyle and preferences of today’s students."

FINANCING: TREO Group secures $132 million refinancing. Affiliates of The TREO Group have secured a $132 million refinancing loan from Ocean Bank for VOX I and VOX II, a 262-unit, 726-bed student housing project near the University of Miami. Completed this summer, the two-building community was ready for the 2025–26 academic year. Ocean Bank’s EVP Eddie Diaz noted the complex transaction replaced loans from three banks and required coordination with Miami-Dade County, the landowner.
